One of the biggest unintended consequences of artificial intelligence is false positives. You probably have at least heard of it by now, even if you have not experienced it directly.
It’s when you’re accused of using AI because detectors aren’t as reliable as some teachers or employers think. At best, you’re looking at a stern warning. At worst, you’re facing academic sanctions for something you might not even be guilty of.
AI bypassers are one way of safeguarding your work against false positives. However, some of the ones you’ll find through Google are either unsafe or ineffective.
Undetectable AI has always been our favorite AI bypasser, but we’re always on the lookout to see if anything else is better. That’s how we came across GPTinf. So, we put these two bypassers to a head-to-head and assessed their capabilities.
In short: GPTinf is actually pretty good, but I’d still prefer to use Undetectable mainly because it has more options and is more reliable. Here’s the full comparison:
What are Undetectable AI and GPTinf?
Undetectable AI and GPTinf are both AI-bypassing tools. Their main goal is to rewrite AI text to the point that it won’t get flagged by detectors. The most common way of doing so is through reworking your sentence structure, increasing diversity in your word choices, and intentionally adding human errors to your text.
What Features Do They Have?
If we’re only comparing features, then Undetectable AI is the clear winner. Not only does it have a robust AI bypasser, but you can also customize the following output parameters:
- Readability: High School, University, Doctorate, Journalist, Marketing.
- Purpose or Use Case: General Writing, Essay, Story, Article, Cover Letter, Report, Marketing Material, Legal Material, Business Material.
- Balance Level: More Human, More Readable, Balanced.
Undetectable AI also offers free re-rewriting of your text if their initial output gets flagged as AI by detectors. They also aggregate AI likelihood scores from 8 different detectors like Content At Scale, Sapling, and Copyleaks. However, when I independently test them using those same tools, I always find them to be inaccurate.
The last feature of Undetectable AI that I want to highlight is their Human Typer Chrome Extension. This allows you to input text and the extension will type it for you, simulating human typing. You can read more about it here.
Moving on, let’s discuss GPTinf’s features — well, feature, since it only has one. Apart from its AI bypasser, the only feature GPTinf has is a freeze list, which allows you to specify which parts of your input don’t need to be modified.

At first glance, Undetectable AI seems to be more unreadable than GPTinf because of its misplaced punctuations. However, if you take time to read the entire text, you’ll find that Undetectable AI, if the punctuations were placed correctly, flows better than GPTinf. For instance, this part from the latter doesn’t really make sense to me:
“Globalism or the interconnectedness between nations smashing the borders to awake trade, commerce, and cultural exchange.”
If you take the same sentence from Undetectable AI and add a missing comma, you’d get a better result:
“The concept of globalism goes beyond borders to encourage collaboration, trade, and the sharing of cultures, among nations.”

GPTinf’s output in this round is far better than Undetectable AI, in my opinion. It keeps the tone of the original text better and successfully replaced an idiom (“in over your head”) with another idiom (“bit off more than you can chew”) that makes complete sense.
Undetectable AI’s output may avoid AI detection, but it still wouldn’t pass the smell test. Any person would know that an actual human doesn’t write this — it’s far too monotonous, and the language is too flowery.

One thing I noticed is that Undetectable AI and GPTinf has different priorities. The former focuses on avoiding AI detection as much as possible, while the latter is focused on keeping the narrative.
Undetectable AI’s version of the story doesn’t read like one, instead it feels like the end of the Telephone Game. It’s butchered to the point of being unreadable. Let’s just say that I wouldn’t be telling this tale as a bedtime story any time soon.
On the other hand, GPTinf’s version is inferior to the original text, but it still kept the readability and flow of the story. It still feels natural, even though we know it isn’t.

I’d consider this one a tie. Like with essays, Undetectable AI is more readable than GPTinf, but it also has more punctuation errors. Meanwhile, the latter doesn’t flow quite as well because of errors in grammar, like in this sentence: “I am an enthusiastic, dependable and excited to bring my skills […]”

I don’t really see many errors with either output. I’m completely satisfied with both marketing copies, but I do think they can be improved a little. For example, Undetectable AI’s last sentence could be integrated into the previous sentence with a comma, and GPTinf’s line about “character superior” doesn’t really make sense to me.

So, What Now?
I’ve always known about how capable Undetectable AI can be in avoiding AI detection, but GPTinf is a nice surprise. To be completely honest, I half-expected the site to be a scam because of its extremely minimalist design. I’m happy that I took a shot because this is one of the best AI bypass tools I’ve tested.
For now, I’ll stick with Undetectable AI because of its track record and advanced customization features. You don’t fix what isn’t broken. In the future, if GPTinf continues to improve its backend, I’ll give it another go, check if it’s finally caught up to Undetectable in terms of features, and then reassess.
