Paraphrasers have existed on the internet since the dawn of time. Okay, maybe not that long, but it’s been around for quite some time. Like other resources in the internet, it has evolved over time to fit the needs of its era.
A few years ago, the main purpose of paraphrasers is to create original text from an input so that it avoids plagiarism detectors. Now, the same principles apply to paraphrasers, but the tools they’re actively trying to avoid are now AI detectors.
Today, both kinds of paraphrasers co-exist in their own tiny corners of the internet. So, I’m here to compare them through Undetectable AI and AcademicHelp to decide, once and for all, which is better. Or, at least, which better suits your needs.
What is Undetectable AI and AcademicHelp?
Undetectable AI no longer needs an introduction if you’ve been reading our articles long enough, but I’ll give you one anyway. It’s a paraphraser aimed at turning machine-generated text into something that reads more human. I’ve highlighted the mistakes of each version of the original text. Notice anything yet?
Undetectable AI has a lot more errors than AcademicHelp. In fact, it has more than ten errors when the latter has none. The reason for this is to avoid AI detection, but one does wonder if it’s going too overboard.
On the other hand, Academic Help is much more fluent. But for something that markets itself as a straight paraphraser instead of a humanizer, it relies too heavily on synonyms to make it work. The results are night and day when comparing this output to Scribbr, a different paraphraser that’s not aimed at avoiding AI detection.
The bottom line is this: Undetectable AI has reasons for its lack of creativity. Does AcademicHelp do? I don’t think so.
I’ve always disliked paraphrasers that focus on synonyms instead of actually creating word and sentence variety, instead using figurative language to showcase their creativity. Both these paraphrasers are guilty of this. Though in this head-to-head, I’m giving the edge to AcademicHelp, but only because of its technical accuracy instead of creativity.

AcademicHelp’s paraphrasing tool is completely free. You just need to sign-up, and you can generate a paraphrased version of a 2000-word text. Unfortunately, any number higher than that has to be inputted separately into their tool and concatenated manually.
All Said And Done
If we’re just counting the number of points each tool won, then AcademicHelp (better output quality and pricing) wins over Undetectable AI (better at avoiding AI detection). However, we need to apply a little nuance in this comparison.
These tools exist for completely different reasons. AcademicHelp is made to help students write better without focusing on the menial tasks that come with it. Undetectable AI actually actively discourages students from using their tools. This is because it’s a potent weapon for academic dishonesty when used as a supplement to ChatGPT or other LLMs.
I would also like to add, to AcademicHelp’s credit, that I was getting better quality results from it the more I used it. Some of their outputs, which I used for the “Detection” part of this article, were far better than the one I used in the “Quality” section. However, I maintain the opinion that Scribbr or QuillBot is still a far better plain paraphraser than AcademicHelp.
So, here’s the conclusion: If you’re looking for an AI bypasser, Undetectable AI is a no-brainer. If you’re looking for an academic paraphraser, AcademicHelp is a good choice, but it’s also worth looking at QuillBot.
