BOSTON— TiE Boston, in collaboration with Uprate.ai, will host the event “Generative AI: Trends and Opportunities 2024”, which will bring together industry leaders to discuss the evolution of generative AI.

Moderated by Thomas Arul from Uprate.AI, the event will feature speakers such as Paul Baier of GAI Insights, Rama Ramakrishnan from MIT Sloan, Chip Hazard of Flybridge and XFactor Ventures, and Kleida Martiro, Partner at Glasswing Ventures. This event aims to highlight the significant economic potential of generative AI and the exciting trends shaping its future in 2024.

In 2023, AI achieved widespread adoption. Open AI’s Chat GPT, known for its ability to convert prompts into various formats like poems, songs, high school essays, and even writing emails, quickly attracted 100 million users within two months, leading to the replacement of many jobs. Additionally, each new feature released by Open AI significantly impacts numerous startups, as these features often overlap with the functionalities that these smaller companies have developed.

2024 is shaping up to be a landmark year for generative AI, with expected advancements in several key areas:

Consultancy firm PwC estimates that the AI-related economic impact could reach $15.7 trillion globally by 2030. Key trends for 2024 include AI democratization, multimodality, shadow AI, hybrid systems, and a focus on ethics.

McKinsey research suggests that generative AI can enhance software development, enabling engineers to develop, refactor, and document code more efficiently. Technical debt, which often consumes a significant portion of technology budgets, can be substantially reduced with generative AI’s capabilities.

According to a recent report from Forrester, Generative AI is projected to replace approximately 2.4 million job positions in the United States by 2030, also impacting an additional eleven million roles. However, it is also expected to create many new opportunities.
