The Zodiac Killer mystery will be solved by artificial intelligence combined with quantum computing and a few other technologies I am confident this will take place within the next few years, especially since the continued rise in technology such as quantum computing, artificial general intelligence and computing power continue to rise.

What technology will make this possible?

GPU’s and Chips: Computer chips are increasing in processing power, for example NVIDIA’s new GPU can process about a trillion parameters with 25 times less cost and energy consumption from its predecessors. Not to mention the rise of quantum computing and combine this technology with the rise of not only generative AI but the beginnings of what is known as artificial general intelligence, I am hoping for a quick resolution to longstanding mysteries of the past. In short, a rise in computing power that comes from increased processing from chips and GPU’s allows for more powerful AI systems, one of which is Artificial General Intelligence.

AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is promising especially in solving some longstanding mysteries because of all the parameters and the ability to learn on its own, I believe that it will have the ability to solve such mysteries such as the Zodiac Killer case. Once seen an unsolvable, given that an AGI can and might have access to trillions of bits of information and would have the ability to think like the smartest human and even surpass this within or by around 2026 (according to Elon Musk), I do believe we may see yet the resolution of some of the Zodiacs last ciphers such as the Z13 or even Z32 unsolved Zodiac ciphers.

While there are some restrictions such as the ciphers being to short to solve mathematically, due to a concept called unicity distance, an AGI may be able to think creatively and combine possible solutions with other clues in short, basically shorting the amount of possibilities to the short ciphers sent by the Zodiac Killer. Being able to narrow down the possible solutions I am hopeful and confident that an AGI smarter than any human would see patterns to confirm the identity of the Zodiac Killer.
