Salimi and Saheb demonstrated the impressive capabilities of ChatGPT 3.5, a Large Language Model (LLM) that “co-authored” the opening 10 paragraphs of their article on the significant impacts and ethical problems with using LLMs in Ophthalmology scientific writing1. Our correspondence explores how the technical processes LLMs use to produce content are incompatible with the scientific method, research , and academic publishing.
