Layered Reality has announced that it will bring Elvis back to the stage in November 2024. Starting with a Central London concert before heading worldwide, the groundbreaking concerts will showcase a virtual Elvis created by applying machine learning across many hours of his footage. Artificial intelligence is used to create a 3D proxy that has the same trademark moves as the real Elvis.
AI and ML have advanced in recent years for actor enhancement and replacement in movies. An actor’s face can be replaced by a younger version, while dead actors like Paul Walker and Carrie Fisher have been brought back to the set with face replacement, 3D computer graphics, and deepfake technologies.
For the Elvis Evolution concert, Layered Reality used machine learning to learn just how Elvis moves and sings from hours of videos, and AI will be used to enable new performances of the virtual Elvis. The 3D Elvis will be holographically projected onto a real stage coupled with theater and sensory effects that help heighten the sense of realism. The after party includes food at an Elvis-themed restaurant and bar.
In the meantime, why not enjoy an Elvis record (like this at Amazon) after placing yourself on the Elvis Evolution waitlist here.
Having worked at Activision, UCLA, Anime Expo and more, I’ve seen technology being used to save lives, create games, and create fantastic 3D VR/AR worlds. There’s always something fun in emerging technology that I want to get my hands on and all my friends turn to me to find the best for their needs, so I’m glad to bring my experience to Notebookcheck.
