The orange plastic cylinder disk would not be included with your gun. It debuted in 1991; the same year as the blue, blow molded plastic carry case.
Paperwork you are missing:
-COLT TEN YEAR FREE SERVICE AGREEMENT
-“the Colt Companion”
-N.R.A. application
-UAW business card which reads: “THIS FINE COLT PRODUCT IS PROUDLY UNION MADE” Local 376
All paperwork other than the PYTHON manual is non-model specific form paperwork. It is included with every Colt produced. None of it makes any reference to any Colt model.
The 2 1/2 incher came in all five finishes. Royal Coltguard was a standard production finish from 1982 through 1984. It was available on all five barrel lengths. The 2 1/2 incher is model I3820. It retailed for $567.95 in 1982, $597.20 in 1983, and $637.45 in 1984. Royal Coltguard was also available outside of the standard production years through the Colt Custom Gun Shop. Looking up the serial number will reveal if it was standard production if the original box has gone missing.
The 3″ Pythons were only available in Royal Blue(I3630) and Royal Coltguard(I3830). They were produced in 1983 and 1984 only. The 1983 and 1984 Colt catalogs make no mention or reference to them. They are however listed clear as day in the 1983 and 1984 price lists. The COMBAT PYTHON was commissioned by Lew Horton in Southboro, MA. It was produced in 1987 only. Delivery was less than the 500 originally ordered by Lew Horton.
