Thank you. I am actually as inspired and enthralled by the “story” as I am the Python.
Had a 20 minute conversation with the gentleman today.
A 78 year old nearly- unintelligible Russian who immigrated to California in 1982.
He shared with me that the first thing he wanted to do after arriving in America was buy some “nice” guns, as he had never been afforded that opportunity in his previous life.
He bought this ’81 Python new in ’82, then a Walther PPK, and finally a Colt 1911 (I love his style).
He had major eye surgery a number of years ago, lost a major portion of his sight and was unable to shoot. Said the Python was “carefully cleaned, oiled, wrapped in a rag, and hidden in a closet” where it has remained.
He only ever shot it on trips to the local range, and only shot .38 Special ammo…guessing the round count at 200+ or -.
He said the 2 boxes of .357 thrown in were bought in ’82 for “home security” and still has them because he “never had sufficient cause to shoot anybody”
My God how I love the “stories”
Best
