Google is bringing these generative AI features to Chrome browser

After Search, Photos, and Pixel, Google is bringing generative AI to Chrome. It is not just integrating its AI assistant, Bard, into it but also bringing two other AI features that will help you organize tabs and create themes. Chrome 121, which is already rolling out, brings three new AI features – a tab organiser, a writing assistant, and a theme creator.

Google says that these new features will make browsing the internet much easier and more efficient while also adding a more personalised touch.

Remember Tab groups, well, the feature is being supercharged with AI. The Tab Organiser feature, which is powered by generative AI, can suggest and create tab groups based on your open tabs. All you need to do is, right-click on a tab and select “Organise Similar Tabs,” or you can also click down the drop-down arrow. Chrome will suggest names and emojis for the groups, making it easy to find them again when you need them.

Next up is Help me write, which is coming to Chrome next month with Chrome 122. The feature has been there in Gmail and Docs for a while and helps you generate text based on the prompt given. With “Help me write” integrated within Chrome, one can fill up any text box or field you visit. Just right-click on the text field and select “Help me write,” and write the prompt about what they need.

That’s not it, but generative AI will also help you personalise the browser a notch up. Powered by the same text-to-image diffusion model as the generative AI wallpapers on Pixel 8, the AI-powered theming option on Chrome will let the users generate custom themes based on the subject, mood, visual style, and colour. Head over to “Customise Chrome,” click “Change Theme,” and select “Create with AI.” Chrome will then generate a theme for you.

Do note that you will need to toggle on the “Experimental AI” feature under the Settings to use these three features. You will find this option in the three-dot dropdown menu on the top right corner.
