Generative AI model remembers and thinks like a human brain

In a special study funded by the Wellcome foundation, researchers from University City London (UCL) used an artificial intelligence program to mimic the way our brains absorb and remember information.

Human memory plays a crucial role in various cognitive processes, like contributing to our ability to learn about the world, relive past experiences, and construct entirely new scenarios for imagination and planning.

“Recent advances in the generative networks used in AI show how information can be extracted from experience so that we can both recollect a specific experience and also flexibly imagine what new experiences might be like,” said Eleanor Spens, lead author of the study and a Ph.D. student at UCL.
